The internet in China, as well as in other repressive countries such as Iran and Cuba, remains tightly controlled. Moreover, the internet is used by these governments to deliver information that breeds hostility toward the United States and other democratic nations, creating threats to global security. Advancing Internet freedom in China and other repressive countries is becoming an increasingly important and urgent matter. For example:
